Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actress singer and songwriter. Her mother raised her throughout the USA she faced many racial slurs which gave her feeling of being unwanted. Her confidence began to grow in the ninth grade when she appeared in an audition. She was praised by the judges for her vocal ability. The experience not only boosted her confidence but also shifted her career ambition. At 22 she was a graduate of New York's Julliard School. When she was 23, she made her first appearance on Broadway in Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films featuring You've Got Mail. The part in The lad from The Lake was her greatest break, earning her an award called the Tony Award in addition to critical acclaim for her performance. Her fame grew by appearing on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. She is also a known artist and published an extended version of her play. Additionally, she works as a LGBT activist.
